Hi again,

Should have said my great great grandparents were John Casey and Ellen Magee from Caledon. They married in 1847. Their son Francis was my great grandfather. He married a Margaret Toal. Are there families of these names still in the village?

I tried to send you a private e-mail, but it didn't get delivered to you, for some reason.

My name is Shelly Sargent, and I live in the Town of Caledon, Ontario, Canada. Caledon is a collection of small villages that have been grouped together to form a town.

We are about 1 hour north of Toronto. Many of the villages within Caledon have been named after villages or well known families in the UK, and in fact I have recently been working on a "twinning" project with a nearby village (Palgrave, ON) and the village of Palgrave, Suffolk, England.

It occured to me that it would be lovely to do the same with the actual Town of Caledon, Ontario and our Namesake in the UK.

Would you (or any of your visitors) have any interest in working with me on such a project or could you pass my information along to anyone with similar interests? I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Delighted to find this site about Caledon. I was born in Derrykintone but moved away in the 1940s.I recognise all the pictures including the one of my grandparents home and my birth home. I have information on some of the families mentioned in emails and will endeavour to help those folk researching their roots.

Hello,
I hope that someone can help in some way.
I'm tracing my family background and have ground to a halt over my Great Grand Father. His name was John Conlon, born around 1839-1840 and lived in Caledon, he had two, possibly three brothers, and later married Ellen Maguire. They had two sons, William Arthur (Butcher) and John (Commercial Clerk). William married Sarah Jane Larkin and went on to have 14 children, John (Jnr) never married.
Thanks for your time.
Michael.

My mom and dad, Patrick and Sarah McKenna owned the Silver Tassel Pub in Calendon in the early l960s. It was a very quaint village at the time. Deirdre, my sister and I went to the 2 room school house. I was in the pub a number of years ago but it was completely different
