Spent many summers at Churchill Cottages at my grandmothers. Are there any local history books or video/dvd avail;able on the history of Caledon and its residents? Hope to visit in the next few months

Hello,
I live in Caledon and I love it because i go to school in it and hear a lot of things about Caledon in my younger years. I used to go on trips to the estate and the bone house and all the other exciting things going on around Caledon.
As for now: Bye

Thank you for this website. It has given me a wonderful overview of where my ancestors were from, the Hagan family. James Hagan and his wife and 2 children travelled to Sydney Australia as free settlers and eventually James' brothers also came to Australia.

There is a large family here in Australia now as a result.

Thank you for your information about Caledon,Co.tyrone. I was intrigued by the name during a recent visit to Caledon, south africa, wondering if it had any link with the Latin name for Scotland, i.e. Caledonia (fortress of the Celts)
Reading a book about south Africa I came across the name of the Earl of Caledon who was instrumental in the governance of the Cape Colony after the British arrived to seize the territory almost 200 years after the Dutch.
Thanks again for all your information. andrew thackrey.
